Welcome back once again to Queen Consulting Group’s Team Spotlight. We have a truly amazing team of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to match talented people with great employers, and we love introducing to you a new team member each month. Today, we invite you to get to know more about our Director of Operations, Melissa Hunter.
Team Member: Melissa Hunter
Role: Director of Operations
With Team QCG since: October 2012
Q: What’s your favorite thing about your role?
A: I love that every day brings a different challenge in Operations – I never know what to expect and that makes my job a blast! I enjoy working directly with our new consultants and guiding them through our onboarding process – it’s an exciting time for them as they start a new role.
Q: What’s your best QCG memory?
A: There are so many, it’s hard to choose just one! One of my favorites would have to be our 2016 New Year “Kick-Off” event. We had an awesome afternoon of team building (I’ll never forget guiding our blindfolded President, Carl Foster, through a “mine field”), went for a scrumptious meal at Stephanie’s, and finished the evening at a paint bar painting the Boston skyline while doing an 80’s sing-a-long.
Q: What’s something you are surprisingly good at?
A: Selecting a great wine (I’m a California “Cab” girl), driving really fast (I raced cars as a kid and never gave up my lead foot), power cleans (or so my CrossFit coaches tell me), and knife fighting (I trained in Filipino Kali for many years).
Q: What motivates you?
A: I’m motivated by taking on new responsibilities and having the freedom to be creative. I’m also motivated by the people I work for and with … I love being part of our awesome QCG team and doing all I can to help our team succeed.
Q: What’s something your QCG co-workers say about you?
A: Matt Poplawski, who started at QCG the same year I did and knows me quite well, says I’m “spunky and have a zesty personality.” I think he’s politely saying I’m outspoken and snarky, but we’ll run with it!
Q: If you won an all-expenses-paid dream vacation to anywhere in the world – where would you go and why?
A: Why limit myself to just one place? I’d like a suite aboard The World cruise ship. Maybe just for a year? I’m sure I could figure out a way to work remotely as we sail all over the globe!
